This Privacy Policy explains how MealTrack (“MealTrack”, “we”, “us”), operated by Mulia Rifai Aroyan, collects, uses and shares information when you use the MealTrack – AI Calorie Tracker mobile app for iOS, watchOS and Android and this website (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information — your email address, name and profile picture when you sign in with Apple, Google or email. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only receive Apple’s relay address.
- Profile and goals — details you enter during onboarding and in your profile, such as age or date of birth, sex, height, current and target weight, activity level, diet preferences, goals and answers to onboarding questions (for example, how you heard about us or whether you have used other tracking apps).
- Food and activity logs — meals, foods, portions, calories and macros you log, barcodes you scan, meal plans, workouts, water, streaks and weight entries.
- Photos — meal photos you take or pick from your gallery, and optional progress photos you add to your weight history.
- Voice input — audio you record when you use voice logging or talk to the AI assistant, including on Apple Watch.
- Messages — questions you type or say to the AI coach, and feedback or support requests you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and app information — device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone and a push-notification token.
- Usage data — screens viewed, features used, onboarding progress and interactions with subscription offers.
- Diagnostics — crash reports and performance data.
- Advertising identifiers — on Android, the Google advertising ID used by AdMob; on iOS, the IDFA only if you allow tracking when asked (see Advertising & tracking).
Purchase information
Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see or store your card or payment details. We receive information about your subscription status, such as the product, trial status, and purchase and renewal dates, so we can unlock premium features.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the Service: estimate calories and macros, save your food log and show your progress.
- To personalize your calorie and macro targets, meal plans and workout plans.
- To keep your data in sync across your devices, widgets and Apple Watch.
- To send reminders and notifications you have allowed. You can turn them off anytime in your device settings.
- To process subscriptions and restore purchases.
- To understand how the app is used, fix bugs and improve features.
- To show ads to users without a subscription and to measure our marketing.
- To answer support requests, prevent abuse and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your health-related information (such as weight, body measurements or food logs) for advertising.
3. AI processing
When you scan a meal, record voice input or chat with the AI coach, the photo, audio or text is sent to OpenAI to generate the nutrition estimate or reply. Under OpenAI’s API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train OpenAI’s models by default, and it is kept only for a limited period for abuse monitoring. We send only what is needed for the request. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in photos or messages that isn’t needed for nutrition tracking.
4. Service providers we share data with
We share information only with providers that help us run the Service, and only for the purposes below. They process data under their own privacy policies and our agreements with them.
| Provider | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Account sign-in, database and file storage (profile, food log, photos) | supabase.com/privacy |
| OpenAI | Analyzing meal photos, voice input and chat messages to estimate nutrition and answer questions | openai.com/policies/privacy-policy |
| Apple & Google | Sign in with Apple / Google Sign-In; App Store and Google Play payments | apple.com/legal/privacy · policies.google.com/privacy |
| Superwall | Showing subscription offers and measuring how they perform | superwall.com/privacy |
| Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics) | Usage analytics and crash reports | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| OneSignal | Delivering push notifications | onesignal.com/privacy_policy |
| Google AdMob | Showing ads to users without a subscription | policies.google.com/technologies/ads |
| TikTok (Business SDK, iOS) | Measuring ad campaigns — only if you allow tracking on iOS | tiktok.com/legal/privacy-policy |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. If that happens, we will make sure this policy continues to apply to your information.
5. Advertising & tracking
If you don’t have a subscription, the app may show ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device’s advertising ID to show and measure ads. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads.
On iOS, we ask for your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before any data is used to track you across other companies’ apps and websites. If you allow it, the TikTok Business SDK and AdMob may use your IDFA to measure ad campaigns and show relevant ads. If you decline, the IDFA is not shared. You can change this anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
6. Device permissions
The app asks for permissions only when you use a feature that needs them:
- Camera — to photograph meals and scan barcodes.
- Photos — to pick meal or progress photos from your library.
- Microphone and speech recognition — for voice logging and talking to the AI assistant.
- Notifications — for meal reminders and progress updates.
You can change these permissions anytime in your device settings.
7. Data retention & account deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account anytime in the app under Profile → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and the data linked to it, including your profile, food log and photos, from our systems. Backups are overwritten within 30 days. If you cannot access the app, email us at support@mealtrackapp.com from the address linked to your account and we will delete it for you.
Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription. Please cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings (see Support). We may keep limited information when the law requires it, for example transaction records.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EEA/UK or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate information (most of it you can edit directly in the app);
- delete your information;
- object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent at any time;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information, and you can opt out of ad-related sharing using the device settings described above.
To make a request, email support@mealtrackapp.com. We will respond within the time required by law, usually within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Where the GDPR applies, we process your data to provide the Service you requested (contract), with your consent (for example, ATT tracking, personalized ads, notifications and health-related information you choose to enter), and for our legitimate interests in keeping the Service secure and improving it.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with providers that use industry-standard security controls. Access to your data is restricted to your account. No system is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach where the law requires it.
10. International transfers
Our service providers may process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Not medical advice
Calorie and nutrition values in MealTrack are estimates, and the AI can make mistakes. The Service is for general wellness and information only and is not a substitute for advice from a doctor or registered dietitian.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If the changes are significant, we may also let you know in the app.
